Guatemala November Update!

Guatemala Earthquake update
 
As many of you may know an earthquake happened on November 7th. More than 20,000 homes were damage and many families are with not home and many of them still living in shelters or near to what is left of their home after the quake.





Woodland was able to respond immediately thanks to the nurse team that went to San Marcos, the quake area. They were able to made distribution of medicine, food and water.

Today Woodland still working in the department of San Marcos. On the first week of December a team of pediatricians from USA and the nurses from Patanatic will provide medical care to families and will make distribution of water filters.


Woodland thanks to the Guatemala Association in Kansas, Bob and Marcella Gaoba, Dr Joe Spalito, the Rotary clubs of DeSoto, Spring Hill and Santa Fe Trail because their donation families of San Marcos will be able to receive a water filter, hygiene kits, blankets and food.
 
Woodland also thanks to Lynda Callon from the Wes Can Center, Reyes Media, Dos Mundos Bilingual Newspaper and La Mexicanita store for their support during the product drive for the victims of the earthquake.


New babies in Patanatic
Woodland and the Centro Educativo y Salud Patanatic -CESP- continue implementing the access to health during November providing medical care to the babies that born in November 2012.
A total of 21 new babies is the total from January to November and 3 more are expecting for December.
Mothers and babies receive medical care during and after pregnancy. In December two pediatricians will visit the clinic to provide the monthly checkup to all the little patients.     Congratulation to the proud parents!

 Nutrition and Education Center Construction

On November the construction volunteer team of Patanatic completed the construction of the Nutritional and Education Center Patanatic!

Windows, glass, wood doors, steel doors, ceramic tile, electric wire, lamps and the entire sheet rock walls were installed and painted. It is complete!

This was possible thank you to the support of the Leawood and Olathe Club, Mike and Mary Wilson, Dave and Nacy Dilley, Jake and Debby Schloegel. There are not words to express how happy are the people of Patanatic because this new facility will be the home of the Nurse School of Patanatic and also will be the Nutrition center for the families and children in this program.

Thank you so much for your support in the construction of this part of the Education and Health Center Patanatic and now Woodland is working in the next steps in regards to identify resources for purchase school supplies, desk and equipment that will be used in this facility.


Woodland 10th year celebration!

On November 15th Woodland Public Charity celebrated its 10th year of humanitarian service around the world.

All Woodland friends enjoyed the update of the programs in Guatemala, Kenya and South Africa.
Woodland also recognizes the “Woodland Champions” that support the projects local or international. Other very special moment was the recognition of the “Woodland Humanitarian Award” that was presented to Robin Wolff, Rebecca Welsh and Wes McCoy. Their received this award because their outstanding volunteer work and leadership in many of the initiatives of Woodland in Central America and Africa.

Finally the speaker of the night Patti Bossert, delighted all the invites with a unique presentation that reflects the passion to serve of the Woodland volunteers.

Thank you to all of you for your encourage messages for this 10th anniversary. These had been possible because your support, your commitment and leadership.

Woodland Public Charity recognizes that the key of the success during this decade had been possible because the tremendous leadership and partnership with you and many amazing organizations.
