This garden will produce traditional vegetables (according to the
season) such carrots, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, black beans,
cilantro, and other food crops. The farm will have chickens, rabbits and
goats. All production of this community
garden and farm will be utilized for the nutritional programs which focus on
providing nutritional counseling for families to improve diets and reduce child
mortality.
The community garden and farm will produce its own organic fertilizer and insecticides and select native seeds which will reduce costs and increase vegetable production.
To ensure the sustainability and continuity of this
project local leaders and local nurses have been trained to take the lead with this
initiative.
